Zevenwacht

Situated on the Stellenbosch wine route, Zevenwacht has strong viticultural roots penetrating deep into the historic past of South Africa. While literally meaning Seven Expectations, the name Zevenwacht exemplifies the abundant delights which await visitors to this wonderful wine estate.

The farm Zevenfontein was divided when De Waal sold Langverwacht to his son Adrian but was again united under the new name Zevenwacht in 1978.

The vineyards are ideally situated to grow quality grapes. Extending up the south and south-west slopes the vines are protected from the heat by the Bottelary Hills and cooled by the sea breezes coming off the sea. Characterised by good quality, varied soils, the vineyards have been selectively planted red and white noble varietals. Vineyard Tours can be enjoyed by either a leisurely stroll or a gentle surrey ride to the lookout viewing point overlooking Table and False Bay.

The Cellarmaster honours the centuries-old winemaking traditions, yet is boldly innovative welcoming the contributions of modern technology. Visitors are welcome to tour the cellar by appointment.

Wine Tasting can be enjoyed seven days a week. Savour the pleasure of sampling the wines within sight of the vines on which they grew.

The Restaurant nestles in a setting of unsurpassed tranquillity. The historic Manor House that houses the restaurant is open seven days a week for breakfast lunch and dinner. The Play Park is equipped to keep children happily and safely amused.

The Auditorium seats 64 and offers sophisticated hi-tech conference facilities in a relaxed setting. The Country Inn is situated in the heart of the vineyards, each suite fitted with air-conditioned luxury and a private terrace with uninterrupted view over the Bay. Seven Vineyard Cottages are available with luxury double bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, charming lounge and kitchenette. The Cheesery is located close to the Vineyard Cottages and produces traditional style Farmhouse Cheddar from Friesland milk.

Visiting Zevenwacht Wine Estate must be the highlight of any tour to the Cape winelands. The farm has developed into one of the most attractive on the route and has an extraordinary wide range of facilities to cater for all occasions.

The main restaurant situated in the historic manor house, has gained a reputation as one of the finest in the Cape, whilst less formal barbeques, light lunches and teas are catered for in the beautiful gardens. Mouth watering, picnic baskets are also available to be enjoyed on the lawns, appealing to both vegetarian and meat eaters. Children menus are available as well.

Weddings, parties, conferences and product launches for up to 450 people can all be accommodated and catered for. As is evident, Zevenwacht is a go-ahead, people-friendly wine estate which has something to offer for every requirement.
