Louiesenhof is one of Stellenbosch’s younger wineries, Louiesenhof offers a collection of top quality yet innovative wines in state-of-the-art packaging.

The wine farm boasts spectacular views over the Simonsberg and the rolling hills surrounding Stellenbosch as well as an enviable collection of fynbos, particularly proteas.

Louiesenhof is one of two farms bordering the Papegaaiberg, one of Stellenbosch's landmarks. The farm also runs over into the Devon Valley. We are blessed with very fertile soils. The farm has slopes facing all four wind directions and at different altitudes which make a variety of terroirs possible. Recently we also acquired another vineyard along the Bottelary Hills, which makes us a proud owner of the Bottelaryberg, the highest point of the Bottelary Hills. Along the Bottelary Hills we have around 50 hectares of proclaimed fynbos nature reserve.

Guests are encouraged to imbibe this tranquil atmosphere while enjoying a light lunch on the newly built patio accompanied by one of Louiesenhofs fine wines.

The farm also produces a unique style of port, as well as a connoisseurs sipping brandy. The Marbonne brandy is distilled on the premises in a beautiful German distilling kettle, unique in its construction and size; while the Perroquet Port is bottled in traditional German "Krugs", making them both collectors items.

This natural and ecology friendly way of wine-making started in Europe. Today there is a worldwide awareness of the sensitivity of nature and ecology. In developing countries the emphasis is often solely on development and little consideration is given to nature. Says Stefan Smit, cellarmaster at Louiesenho, "During the four years I studied in Europe I became intensely aware of the sensitivity of the ecology. Consequently I decided to produce wines in consideration with nature, "with as little tampering with nature as possible." Louiesenhof has a wide range of soils with different slopes, gradients and a variety of microclimates. This makes it possible to establish the most suitable cultivars in ideal soils.
