The husband and wife team, Ernst and Gwenda are the soul and drive behind this refined wine company. Both their families have been part of the Cape Wine lands for three centuries.
With 30 years experience in the wine industry, Ernst and Gwenda Gouws established their premier brand Ernst & Co in 2004 to produce and sell wine both locally and internationally.
Cellar master and production manager, Ernst and marketing and financial manager, Gwenda, are well-known in the Cape Wine lands for their successes in the wine industry and international wine market. 'Our aim is wines to please consumers with refined palates who regularly enjoy wine. We vinify the purest grapes without interfering with the natural process,' says Ernst.
In addition, the Gouws family's daughters are also rooted in the wine industry and son, Ernst showing a keen interest to follow in his father's footsteps.
The combination of a professional company and passionate family involvement for generations is part of the Cape's wine culture and enhances the image of the product.
Their premier brand, Ernst & Co, was established in 2004, to produce and sell wine both locally and internationally. Gwenda Gouws established the Imbizo and Timbili labels in 2000, primarily for the export markets of Belgium and Germany.

The grapes utilized for the production of wines for the three labels are secured and sourced contractually by Ernst from the Stellenbosch and other selected areas and are processed at the Koelenhof Winery on the R304 in Stellenbosch. Ernst & Co is the family flagship label for absolute fine wines that are sold in restaurants and specialist wine shops.
