Enjoy three days of luxurious wine tasting and gourmet events and a cycle journey that takes you through breathtaking landscapes of vineyards, valleys and country lanes. The tour runs most months, throughout the year, and doesn't demand a high fitness level. This trip is for everyone who knows how to enjoy the good things in life. Be prepared to buy some of the best wines the Cape Winelands has to offer.
Schedule - Day 1After a fulfilling breakfast, we depart Cape Town to visit the beautiful wine region of Stellenbosch. Next, soak in the stunning vistas of Devon Valley on an exhilarating cycle ride, touring a variety of exquisite wineries. After an invigorating morning, we visit one of the most breathtaking wine estates in the Stellenbosch area and indulge in culinary offerings at the local restaurant. After lunch, we head for the cellar for a lesson in making a "Champagne" styled wine, known locally as Method Cap Classique. After a sabrage demonstration and, of course tasting, we transfer to Stellenbosch to discover South Africa's second oldest town on a walking tour. To finish the day, we will arrive at our luxurious accommodations (see option 1 or 2 under the Dates/Prices tab on the menu bar), located in the heart of the wine country. Find peach and tranquility with a massage at the spa before a fabulous dinner. Your meal will be the perfect end to a day filled with adventure, exquisite food, and, of course, wine!
Schedule - Day 2Today's splendid ride brings us through the vineyards following the gentle lower slopes of Simonsberg (Simon's Mountain). Here we will taste award-winning wines and work up our appetite for a delicious lunch. The final leg of the day's cycle tour will lead us further up through the Simonsberg Mountain wine estates. After a short transfer, we arrive in Franschhoek, culinary capital of South Africa. Relish in our luxury accommodations at the exceptional five start Relais & Chateax auberge (Option 2) in the heart of this quaint village or kick off your shoes with our host family (Option 1). Later that evening, revel in the decadence of a fabulous eights course food and wine pairing extravaganza, specially arranged for us, capping off another unforgettable day in South Africa's wine country.
Schedule - Day 3Begin the day by cycling down the Franschhoek Pass, taking in sweeping views of the entire valley before continuing on to visit more fabulous wineries and sampling five star wines. Our journey takes us to Solms Delta for a sumptuous picnic lunch, not only providing an authentic empowerment experience, but also showcasing a superb farm museum steeped in local history, and exposing the often harsh life under Apartheid. Afterward, we start our journey back to Cape Town, with a brief intermission for yet another wine pairing experience that can only be described as a sensory experience par excellence. Lastly, we visit an acclaimed brandy cellar and learn about the process of producing this fine spirit. Learn the craftsmanship required to create this indulgent drink while viewing an amazing cooperage demonstration. Finally, we make our way back to Cape Town, well exercised, yet relaxed, arriving in the late afternoon / early evening.
