Schedule - Day 1
Join us for a remarkable day of cycling and walking, fine cuisine and insightful discussions, that kicks off at 8am and ends around 10pm after a five course meal at the world famous Azure Restaurant, over looking the Atlantic Ocean. The day includes magnificent morning rides along breathtaking mountain passes and coastal paths with mesmerizing views of the city and nature; an afternoon walking tour of the Bo-Kaap, Cape Town's famed Cape Malay community, where you will discover the history, hardships, and accomplishments of the Malay community of Cape Town.

At the end of a sensational day and before dinner, at the popular Sanctuary Spa nestled at the foot of Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles, wind down with a fine complimentary Spa treatment or spoil yourself for an hour or two next to the heated infinity pool overlooking the ocean and a smaller secluded rock pool with mountain views and/or walk the park trails and settle into one of the many idyllic garden hammocks to admire the sunset with a complimentary sundowner. Treat yourself to an unforgettable day of beauty, food, and activity and be inspired by arguably the most beautiful city in Africa, Cape Town.

Detailed Program:

We start out at 8am in the morning with a tailored French pastry breakfast, an introduction to your trip leaders and the day's program, all from our exclusive deck-area within the V&A Waterfront marina yacht basin, with Table mountain and the famed Cape Grace Hotel as a backdrop. Soon hereafter we depart by shuttle transport to our starting point, high above the city's skyline.

We leisurely meander down the mountain on Bike and Saddle's exclusive, custom assembled, carbon fiber road bicycles, past the imposing Lions Head, an old-city High School with its sprawling colonial sports grounds and magnificent views of the beaches of Cape Town. Onwards, in the shadows of the Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain, we pass a colorful craft market, displayed alongside the road, where you may want to alight from your bicycle to both inspect the creative and individually sculpted art, synonymous with the African continent, and to give your bum a well earned break.

A little further you steer your bicycle towards one of Cape Nature's coastal nature reserves where our trip guides have set-up the day's first picnic table, two hours into the morning's activities. Here, with the majestic Cape Mountains as backdrop and the gentle roll of the Atlantic ocean a stone’s throw from our picnic site, everyone can indulge in freshly squeezed fruit juices, strawberries and seasonal fruit served with fresh cream and 'fynbos' honey, a selection of some of the Cape's finest cheeses and whole fruits and nuts, chosen for their exotic flavors, rounded off by freshly grilled and lemon flavored bite size fish fillets, cooked to perfection.

From here we transport you by air conditioned bus over the mountains to the lower slopes of one of Africa's most beautiful mountain passes where the final cycle stage of the tour commences.

After an invigorating cycle up to and over the mountain pass, with some of the most amazing views of sky and hues of blue and green ocean, our group makes a final descent to the lower slopes of the mountains and the beaches where a glass of ice-cold, five star sparkling wine awaits, as reward for the morning's activity.

Hereafter we shuttle back to Cape Town to join our expert guide for a 1.5-hour walking tour of the Bo-Kaap. The walking tour starts with a freshly brewed Ethiopian espresso for those so inclined, and a light, roasted, gourmet sandwich to bolster your energy levels. The walk through the colorful streets ends with the muezzin's call and having experienced the Cape's Malay hospitality at its very best.

As part of the tour our guests receive a Spa voucher for the Sanctuary Spa at the Twelve Apostles hotel and after an exhilarating day of cycling, scenery and fine company, we all board the bus from the Bo-Kaap to the Twelve Apostles Hotel where you may choose to spoil yourself for an hour or two. Alternatively, make use of the complimentary heated infinity pool overlooking the ocean and a smaller secluded rock pool with mountain views and/or walk the park trails and settle into one of the many idyllic garden hammocks to admire the sunset with a complimentary sundowner.

At 7:30pm we gather at the Azure Restaurant for our final intimate dinner overlooking the ocean to recount the day's splendors while feasting from a five course, five star menu, specially prepared for you.

Included in the tour is an opening discussion with a leading maritime expert, giving us insight into Cape Town as a harbor and port city and the ocean traffic frequenting our shores. We will also have a short discussion on the Cape's unique fauna and flora - and in particular the Western Cape Fynbos and its stature as one of the world's five unique plant biomes. During dinner, we will be hosted by one of Africa's top storytellers, with stories of the Cape and Southern Africa that lead like spokes to the hub of the wheel!
