King David Golf Club is 15 minutes outside Cape Town off the N2, near the International Airport, it has well maintained greens throughout the year and is rated with the best-designed holes in Cape Town by Rudolph Lake.
The Course with its spectacular background views of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak, is one of Cape Town’s best-kept secrets, meandering along rolling landscape, the golf course is renowned for staying dry and firm during wet winters. This, coupled with the fact that it is relatively sheltered from the notorious Cape Doctor (strong south-easterly wind), makes it a ‘course for all seasons’.
The layout of this course is extensive and is separated by massive Bluegum trees overhanging both sides of the fairways. Palms, pines and aloes all contribute to the natural splendour of the course with its many doglegs, rolling fairways, well-bunkered greens and four water hazards. With spectacular background views of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak from many of the holes, particularly the tee off on the signature par-four 6th, you’ll find yourself driving straight at the Table Mountain cable way. Another memorable hole is the 12th - it’s rated as one of the finest par-threes in the country. Playing to a well-raised green falling away on either side and surrounded by bunkers is tricky, especially in windy conditions.
This championship course has grown in status and continues to host many major tournaments including the annual Tour Seniors PGA Championship besides the many amateur and national events.
