Here you can experience the daily lives, crafts and entertainment that is on the Zulu 'A list'. For those intellectuals who wish to show that they too have an adventurous/ live hard streak in their rail thin body simply suggest spending the night in a authentic beehive home. Enjoy food fresh from the fire, and for those of us who a)like alcohol or b) trying new things have a traditional sorghum beer. You can also check out how traditional crops such as imfe (sorghum), amadumbe (yam-like potato) and amabhece (melons) are grown.
Enjoy the beadworks, making of spears and shields (gear I have no doubt you'll soon be donning you warriors you) Then you can actually learn how to activate as a reasonably seasoned warrior after attending the spear throwing and stick fighting exhibitions. Not to mention the energetic showcase of traditional dance forms. All this can seen at Shakaland (for you movie buffs out there this is where Shaka Zulu was filmed)
Ikukhanya Kwelange Village in Estcourt both promotes and enhances the status of traditional healers (yes you reiki masters, a chance to further your healing potency and thrash it back and forth with someone who actually understands) Plus they have a great,big nursery stocked with medicinal plants.
Dumazulu village, loads ,loads ,loads to do. they have little 'huts' you can spend the night in, at the entrance to each of their units there will be a storyboard outside educating you as to the various tribes. Basket-weaving,pot making, Sangoma bone throwing and of course the dancing.
