Nestling at the foot of the Groenberg is Wellington a mere 45 minutes or 72km drive from Cape Town on Route 62, within easy reach of most Boland and coastal attractions. The Wellington Museum features the local winemaking, leather and fruit farming industries. The South African Dried Fruit industry was founded here in 1890, and still has its headquarters in the town. You can visit the SAD shop for its fine products. Gourmets can also sample the delights of local olives and olive oil, berries, sauces and jams.
