Tulbagh
Tulbagh is situated about 110km north of Cape Town, at the edge of the gorgeous rich Breede River Valley. Tulbaght is surrounded on 3 sides by the Obiqua Mountains to the west, the Winterhoek Mountains to the north and the Witzenberg to the east, which are often covered in snow during winter. The Great Winterhoek towers 6810ft above sea level and is a great challenge to hikers during autumn and spring.
Breede River valley is blessed with a mild Mediterranean climate. Some of South Africa's best known wine estates are located in the Tulbagh Valley. Drostdyhof, Theuniskraal, Twee Jonge Gezellen and the Paddagang Wine Shop, cater for wine lovers. Mountain biking, hiking as well as horse riding, fishing and a range of sporting facilities can all be experienced in Tulbach.
