Parker Cottage

Parker is a little different to the usual hotel or guesthouse experience. Rather than being just a conventional 'place to sleep', we offer a very much unplugged, urban retreat. So although we offer free and fast internet, we don't do minibars, piped music or even reception desks. Parker is a social place too: our legendary wine evenings occur at least twice a week and there's no 'cut off' time for our gourmet breakfasts either.

Parker is a social place but only as much as you want to be sociable. There are two guest lounges and a wonderful sunny veranda for breakfasts and our wine evenings? which occur twice a week and are totally free. There's no 'cut off' time for our gourmet breakfasts: we start at eight and goes on until whenever you want to get out of bed: we like people to spend hours over breakfast. See more at Food and Wine.

And there's more: at Parker, we are striving to combine luxurious hospitality and accommodation with an active concern for the society and the environment. We want to show that luxurious accommodation does not have to cost the resources of the earth or its people: by 2015, Parker aims to be 'off-grid' for water heating, electricity, water and sewage and recycling 90 percent of our waste.

We are passionate about the people of this country and are involved in several social upliftment projects we personally manage or sponsor. We're less than 8 minutes by car from the V&A Waterfront and less than 5 minutes on foot from trendy Kloof Street with its cafes, bars and boutiques. We offer free and secure off street parking on request.

3 Carstens Street, Tamboerskloof, Cape Town. South Africa
DIRECTIONS: Coming from the N2
(Airport, Garden Route, Winelands)
Easy way (adds five minutes)
Drive all the way to the end of the N2, following signs for the CTICC (Convention Centre.) You’ll drive past the Centre on your left and arrive in town. The turning to the V and A Waterfront will be on your right and Table Mountain will be straight ahead.
Go through six sets of lights on the road you are on, which is called Buitengracht.
After the sixth set of lights (junction with Buitensingel), get into the right hand lane.
At the seventh set of lights, you will see Rafiki’s Bar is the first floor on your left and Beleza restaurant over the road on your right. Stay in the right hand lane, go through the lights and go back on your self back down towards the Waterfront.
The second road on your left is Carstens Street. Turn in to the road.
The second building on your left is Parker Cottage.
Less easy way (saves five minutes)
Drive along the N2. Follow the N2 towards CITY until you see a sign for the Cable Way (M3 De Waal Drive) Do not follow signs for the CTICC (Convention Centre.) (If you miss it just keep looking for the CABLEWAY signs which will appear later!)
Keep going for about 5 km on De Waal Drive until the road turns into singlecarriage way (watch out for the speed camera!)
At the speed camera, there is a pedestrian bridge going over the road. Turn LEFT following the signposts to CABLEWAY)
You will go past a tall towerblock called The Gardens’ Centre on your left.
Next, you’ll pass the Mount Nelson Hotel and the Long/Kloof Street intersection, you will be in Buitensingel Street and come to a T-junction at Buitengracht Street.
Turn LEFT towards (surprise!!!) the CABLEWAY
Get into the right hand lane.
You will see that the road turns into a single road at the next set of lights. Rafiki’s Bar is the first floor on your left. Stay in the right hand lane, go through the lights and go back on your self back down towards the waterfront.
The second road on your left is Carstens Street. Turn in to the road.
The second building on your left is Parker Cottage.
