Strand
Strand, is a seaside resort town situated on the eastern edge of False Bay between Maccasser and Gordons Bay, about 50 km southeast of Cape Town. It is 10 km away from the inland town of Somerset West. It has great views of the Cape Peninsula and kilometers of soft white sandy beaches, warmer Indian Ocean water and safe bathing fine beaches. During the summer tourists from Johannesburg flock to this area. A favourite with holiday makers and water sports enthusiasts from all over the world.
The promenade is lined with café’s, shops and restaurants. Strand also has tidal pools at Melkbaai and Harmony Beach, and a olympic size indoor swimming pool situated next to the Strand Pavillion. On the weekends vendors set up their stalls along the promenade and sell a variety of crafts. Known as the Golden Mile for the long stretch of soft white sand , it is perfect for an early morning stroll. You can enjoy a game of Putt Putt or go swim at Water World which is Ideal fun for the whole family. The famous wine routes of the Helderberg, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl are all picturesque trips, and within easy reach.
Strand is ideally located for golfers with a number of excellent local courses nearby ,Erinvale Golf Course and Arabella. Watersports availible are surfing,windsurfing,rubber duck and jet sking.
