Best location in Simonstown and beautifully equipped
We've been working in Cape Town for two years and know Simonstown quite well. For us, the Milestone has without doubt the best location in the area, situated out of the town centre just past Boulders beach on the road up to the national park. It's excellent position keeps you sheltered from the much feared South Wester wind and is a quiet and beautiful location with wonderful views along the rugged coast and across the whole of false bay.

The garden stretches down directly onto the Indian ocean where in our four day stay we had wild sea otters, penguins and a mongoose all come to explore the garden and in addition a pod of about 30 dolphins swim within a couple of hundred yards of the shore. You can walk along the rocks from the bottom of the garden and explore the rock pools or even snorkel in the clear Indian ocean.

As for the cottage it's extremely friendly, rustic and so well equipped you won't miss anything for your stay. No quibbles as some cottages do here about things like washing up liquid etc... it's got everything. In addition, the landlady is extremely accommodating. Can't recommend more highly, have a lovely stay!

Heaven on earth
If you love hearing the slapping waves against the boulders and don't mind watching the penguins bask on the boulkders then the Milestone is the place to be. If you want to feel your mind and soul relax like never before then the Milestone is for you. The porch was my favorite place to be. From there we watched the magnificent sunrise & sunsets over the harbor all the while enjoying the brazen march of the Hirax.
The clean rooms were spacioulsy comfortable and I slept like a baby each evening to the lapping sounds of the waves against the rocks. Can't wait to come back!

Beautiful gem on False Bay
In May 2009 our family spent a week in the beautiful Milestone at the recommendation of friends. We were amazed by the quietness and beauty of the place. The open views on False Bay are absolutely stunning, and although we weren't in the right season to spot any whales, the seals, dassies, penguins and multitude of birds more than compensated for that.

The house itself is comfortable and cosy. It's location right on the waterfront but below roadlevel gives you the feeling it's just the Bay, its inhabitants and you.

We can highly recommend The Milestone. It's close vicinity to the Cape of Good Hope natural park, Capetown and the winelands is an additional advantance.

The Milestone, South Africa
The Milestone was perfect for our requirements. A real home from home in the most idyllic position right on the water's edge. A really peaceful spot to get away from things. We all loved it.

Superb accomodation on a superb location !!
We have been in South Africa a lot a times and stayed in a lot of places but The Milestone is our favorite.
You feel at home right away. One dreams of owning such a charming cottage. Its location is perfect, close to the main road so you don't lose time but still very private between the bushes and with a own garden which ends on a kind of boulders beach. We saw a cape otter, a penguin, dolphins and whales from the garden/house. In fact you can do your whale watching from the dining-room, the toilet, the bathroom and the playing-room for the kids. It is decorated very tastefully. The vieuw during the day and the night is amazing. It is very close to Simons Town (with very nice restaurants) and to boulders beach (the penguins). It's only 35 minutes or so to Cape Town en ideal for exploring the cape peninsula and all the nice villages along the coast. I am absolutely convinced you will never forget The Milestone once you have visited it.

seychelles in the cape
the views from the milestone are stunning. The wildlife abundant - see penguins and dassies up close. The water is clear and star fish sparkle in the rock pools. The accommodation itself retains the charm of a bygone era and has everything you could need (no bling or glitz).

Charming cottage on the ocean
Our family spent 10 days of bliss at the cottage right next to rocks and ocean. The beautiful kitchen is fully equiped, as is the rest of the cottage with attention to detail and thoughtful interior decoration, even fresh flowers! What made an immediate impression was the spotlessly clean state of the cottage and crisp linen which made us feel like home. A must for nature lovers who enjoy being away from the buzz of city life.

The Milestone
Our family, children and little grandchildren keep returning to this magical place. It is protected from the wind, its private, has its own access to the sea and rock pools where we snorkel and swim. Once we saw a family of otters and every day to the delight of the children the penguins and dassies are always around.
The view from the house affords an uninterrupted panarama of beautiful False Bay where one can observe the Dolphins and Whales. One balmy evening we watched the reflection of the full moon shining a silvery path accross the ocean.
The accommodation is comfortable, clean and accommodating. Some evenings we would braai and on others we prepared excellent meals in the modern kitchen which has a wonderful selection of utensils and a dishwasher.
During the peek season when the beaches are crowded we were happy to stay put and enjoy our own little bit of sea in privacy.
I am looking forward to our next stay!!
