Paternoster / general information

Paternoster is one of the last traditional fishing villages along the stunning West Coast. This picturesque fishing town lies15km north-west of Vredenburg and is one of the oldest coastal towns which is famous for its crayfish. Paternoster offers many great activities like kayaking, whale and dolphin watching visit the seal and penguin colony or walk along the sandy beach.

There are many white-washed fishermen's cottages dotted along a long, white beach. In the town some of the atmosphere of a fishing community of a bygone era is preserved. In spring many flower lovers flock here to visit the impressive Columbine nature Reserve which is just 3 km away. Tietiesbaai which forms part of the Columbine Nature Reserve and is frequented by caravaners. Visit Cape Columbine, the last manned lighthouse built on the South African coast. A place not to miss during your trip to the Cape.
