The Green Elephant backpackers lodge is located in a lively student area of Observatory, where young people from all countries get together to enjoy the nightlife and relaxed atmosphere. It is Close to pubs and restaurants, public transport, shops, movies, sports grounds and theatres. The location is a perfect base from which to explore all the exiting benefits the Cape has to offer.
The accommodation consists of:
A Camping area, with tent if required.
A Dormitory, 3 bunk beds per room, with lockers in all dormitories
Double rooms, with 4 poster beds and personal safes
Double en suite rooms, with shower and toilet
Single room, with shared bathroom
Triple room, with separate kitchen and courtyard area.
Communal facilities include a solar heated swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, and a pizza oven, which complements the barbeque facilities amongst others.
Various trips may be organized, such as tours of the Wine Route Cape Peninsula, great walking/cycling sessions in The Cape Point Nature Reserve, seeing the resident penguins at The Boulders and enjoy the winding coastal route on Chapman's Peak Pass. As well as day trips to Hermanus to see the Southern Right and Humpback whales close in to shore from June to November.
The area itself offers a vibrant student atmosphere, with excellent entertainment, not to mention the buzzing nightlife. There many excellent restaurants and student bars within a mere five minutes walk.
