Abbadale (1 Keurboom Road, Newlands) is a large, elegant, double-storeyed home originally built for the Secretary to Cecil John Rhodes. Entries in the Visitors' Book show that people appreciate the calm and tranquil tone of the house, the spacious rooms and the friendliness of the staff.
Five of the six guest rooms (all with safes) are upstairs and the sixth is downstairs with its own entrance and a tiny kitchenette. Guests have their own keys and come and go as they please. Upstairs there is a sitting room with a small fridge and microwave oven, and a large Conference Room with TV where guests are welcome to work or relax.
The full breakfast included in the tariff consists of fruit, juice, cereals, yoghurt, white and brown bread with preserves, tea/coffee and a cooked plate with a choice of eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and baked beans. The grounds are large with oak trees and squirrels, as well as plenty of parking and a big swimming pool.
Location is in the heart of the Southern Suburbs extremely close to Newlands Cricket and Rugby Stadiums. Claremont Shopping Mall is 5 minutes' drive away, and the Newlands Swimming Pool is just across the railway line. UCT is 7 minutes' drive, and the Waterfront 12 minutes away by car on a direct route. Abbadale is in close proximity to the Rondebosch Boys' Schools, Bishops and SACS, and ideally situated to drive to the Kingsbury Hospital, Cape Fertility Clinic and Children's Red Cross or Vincent Pallotti Hospitals.
Traffic permitting, it is a mere 15 minutes from the airport on an easy route with only one turn-off. The large number of returning guests from both South Africa and overseas attest to their pleasant and comfortable stays.
