What you get: This historic area with one of the oldest buildings (1903) has been renovated and upgraded to make your holiday unforgettable. In the private garden, a newly installed "entertainment centre" (Pizza oven, BBQ area and tiled counter-bar area) compliments the two huge old trees (American Ash and Camphor Tree) next to your braai area.
In the most peaceful surroundings, you find this stylish quality decorated home which sleeps 6 people. It has 3 large bedrooms (2 Queen size beds, 2 single beds) with 2 big bathrooms en-suite. The modern gourmet kitchen (granite top) is fully equipped with a big fridge/freezer, microwave, stove electric/gas, oven, kettle, toaster, pots, plates & cutlery and tea/coffee making facilities. Bar area and open plan large dining table for 6 people lead into the comfortable lounge, which has a big TV with DVD player. All bed linen & towels are supplied. This "cool" up- market place in Montagu - cozy fireplace in winter -allows you to experience a relaxing family break away or enjoy a really good time with your friends. This tranquil estate-with view of the mountains and the rose garden offers off-road secure parking.
Rose Cottage is in walking distance to Pad Stall, shops, post office, tourist office, stores, weekly market and restaurants and to most of Montagu's most popular and easy accessible tourism venues. Situated in the heart of town, at the Leidam, you will find a large variety of indigenous birds, (18 species using it as a breeding ground and more than 52 visiting species identified.) Please don't forget your camera!
What to bring: Time for yourself, friends, good wine, good food and walking (or climbing) shoes to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and Montagu. Don't forget your own DSTV decoder so you won't miss the rugby - the dish is installed. Please bring your own firewood if you like to use the fire place or braai area - for the chilly winter evenings.
Things to do in Montagu: Go to a wine tasting (Montagu Winery or 52 others in Robertson surroundings) or choose your own picnic on the river with a boot, which would be fun... Or don't miss the Montagu Tractor rides, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Or have breakfast or lunch at Die Stal 8 km out of Montagu. It always has the best service and good food - on the stoep - with natural and local ingredients. Visit the Hot Natural Mineral Springs or visit the Pat Bush - Klaasvoogds Private Game Reserve, or private Maze and Botanical garden.
