Bezuidenhout House is an ideal base for exploring the Overberg. Stanford village has fine attractions to offer visitors: a charming mix of shops, galleries, restaurants and coffee shops, as well as the delights afforded by historical architecture and quaint river cruises. Enjoy horse riding or visits to Birkenhead micro-brewery, a cheese farm and picnic spot. Take leisurely walks along the river, appreciate the remarkable birdlife.
Bezuidenhout House also offers access to the splendour of the Overberg with its picturesque landscapes and the opportunity to experience a multitude of adventures and nature reserves. Gansbaai offers you boat-based whale watching and great white shark cage-diving and viewing in season and Cape Fur seals on islands in Walker Bay. Klein River affords you cruises for bird-watching.
For those attracted to light houses and ship wrecks, there are five lighthouses around our Overberg coast and these are a sad testimony to the wrecks of numerous ships. Visit the Shipwrecks museum in Bredasdorp for a fascinating preview of naval history. L'Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa is just an hour away. This is the point where the two oceans meet. 20 wineries are in this region, and the new Elim ward has four fine wineries. The Overberg contains a myriad of things to do. No smoking.
