Klein Bosheuwel is situated on two and a half acres of stunning garden, with towering old Oaks, Cinnamon Camphor’s, Chestnuts and Silver Trees, provides tranquil shady refuges during those long hot summer days. The front garden still has remnants of the hedge of Wild Almond planted by Jan Van Riebeeck in order to define the boundary of the Cape Colony and during the Boer War; the British had their horses stabled at Klein Bosheuwel.
The main house is for the exclusive use of guests, the owners live in a cottage on the property. Bedrooms are well appointed with en-suite bathrooms, under floor heating, hairdryers, heated towel rails and fine percale cotton bed linen. The large sitting rooms are furnished with traditional South African antique pieces; guests can enjoy a book in the well stocked library.
Constantia Valley, famous for centuries of fine wine making, spreads out below the gardens of Klein Bosheuwel. At each end of the estate are salt water swimming pools surrounded by lawns. Rose gardens, indigenous proteas, restios and aloes, blend together along the interesting paths.
Klein Bosheuwel boundary hedges are home to a variety of bird species, the secretive Burchell's Coucal or Rain Bird its call predicts damp weather, can be heard skulking in the abundant undergrowth, its call reminiscent if a bubbling brook.
Hout Bay beach and harbour are fifteen minutes drive away. Cape Town CBD and the V&AWaterfront are 20 min away. Constantia is well known for wines and has some of the best restaurants in the world.
