Clanwilliam is located at the foot of the Cederberg mountain range about two and a half hours away from the Cape. It has lots of great attractions on offer, the Cederberg Mountains, rock art, bird-watching, historical buildings, flowers in "Flower Season", as well as water sports on the dam. Various 4x4 routes and hiking trails are available in the area. The Clanwilliam Dam is a spectacular body of water, very popular for recreational purposes of all kinds. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy weekends at the dam, while the local Angling Club arranges regular competitions, of which the Bass Classic in October is probably the most significant. The dam is the most popular dam in the Western Cape for water-skiing.
The Ramskop Nature Garden and a short walking trail. Clanwilliam is famous for growing and cultivating Rooibos Tea. The factory can be visited for a video-show on the tea-process and products can be bought directly from them. Clanwilliam is also well-known for its leather shoes or "Veldskoene", visit the factory is worthwhile, shoes can be bought from them in all sizes and colours.
