CBD / City Bowl / general information
The Mother City, as Cape Town is fondly known by it residents, is nestled between the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain, famed for it’s unbelievably flat top and the breathtaking views. You will find an abundance of exotic restaurants, entertainment venues, historical attractions and cultural experiences. At night the city buzzes with excitement as the jazz clubs, cabaret theatres, wine bars and pubs open their doors to show holiday visitors a good time. Green Market Square became a farmers' market in 1710 and is now the city's best-known flea market. This colourful market consists of hundreds of booths that are built up every morning. It is a perfect place to get cheap souvenirs. It is also home to many buskers including dancers, singers and musicians as well as some of Cape Town's more colourful and eccentric characters. It is bordered by a good selection of restaurants and cafés with outdoor tables for alfresco coffees. Beautiful old buildings, including the Old Town House, look over the square. And let’s not forget the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront – a stylish development which transformed the Cape Town harbour into a magnificent seaside marina ,it offers world-class restaurants, fabulous shopping, craft markets, pubs, bars, boat charters, helicopter flights, museums, aquariums etc. A more beautiful setting in the world is hard to find. If you are looking for accommodation in the harbour see the V&A section on our website. Some accommodation in CBD / City Bowl
