Britannia Bay
Britannia Bay is a 90 minute drive up the west coast, situated amidst Paternoster, Stompneusbaai, and St Helena Bay. Britannia Bay is a botanists dream, this floral kingdoms is also home to 200 bird species which tend indigenous flowers at the turn of Spring . The fynbos-scented coastal air acts as a harbinger for lob tailing dolphins and southern right whales, which put on an acrobatic display up to 10 months of the year. See an archaeological dig at Langebaans West Coast Fossil Park. Birdlovers will also delight in the neighbouring Berg River estuary and the Rocherpan Nature Reserve.
Visit the Langebaans West Coast National Park and Paternosters Cape Columbine Nature Reserve will round off a trip to this region nicely. The small town has a population of 230 inhabitants. Britannia Bay is not short on things to do, shipwreck diving, sailing and windsurfing opportunities, helped along by the characteristic coastal wind.
