The Vale Karoo Farm

The Vale is a working Karoo Farm and is one of South Africa's top Dorper sheep stud farms. Farming activities are diverse and include farming with a substantial numbers of game. Situated in the heart of the Karoo it offers many new holiday and break-a-way opportunities on the farm as well as being near the Karoo National Park, only 32km away.

The farm is situated 30km east of Beaufort West on the N1 route between Cape Town and Johannesburg and is halfway between Bloemfontein and Cape Town, 500km either way. A new and exciting addition to the farm is the development of a number of leisure activities and accommodation facilities to cater for every taste and need.

The Vale Karoo Farm offers many diverse accommodation facilities and after a long day's fun in the sun or long travelling between Johannesburg and Cape Town you can experience a good night's rest that fit your pocket and expectation.

LUXURY GUEST LODGE

The Lodge, expertly renovated from an old farmhouse from the 1880’s to a luxury, highly comfortable Guest Lodge, has 5 exceptionally appointed en-suite rooms. Here you will be spoiled with excellent cuisine and homely service.

STONE COTTAGES

There are 8 twin bedded rooms each with its own en-suite bathroom and kitchenette. There are also 4 cottages with an en-suite double bed room and single bed and a twin bedded room with a kitchenette. The outdoor adventurer can park a caravan or 4×4 next to these Stone Cottages with its own braai area. You can also spoil yourself with an excellent home cooked meal at the Guest Lodge.

COMMUNAL HUNTERS' LODGE

A beautifully converted old stone farm shed has become the Hunters’ Lodge. Here you can stay in the comfort of the very affordable self-catering facility that can accommodate the whole family and even your friends! The Hunters’ Lodge has four rooms, each with it’s own en-suite bathroom, sharing a communal kitchen, living area and braai area. Perfect for larger groups of up to 12 people. Enjoy unforgettable evenings in the Boma under the Karoo sky.

CONFERENCE FACILITIES

The Vale also offers conference facilities for groups up to 20 people. It is the ideal venue for team building in a quiet and peaceful environment. A braai under the Karoo sky will be the perfect end to a day of brainstorming. Catering options are available by arrangement.

• 4 X 4 Routes

The newly developed 4X4 route rated grade 3-4 by Safari 4X4 Routes offer some amazing views over the Karoo Plato and the route range from easy farm road driving to some hair-raising turns, inclines and slippery sections. With real challenges for the seasoned 4X4 enthusiast to routes for the pure nature lover.

• Quad Biking

A whole new way to enjoy your bike. Pack the picnic basket, saddle-up and explore farm roads, river beds and 4X4 mountain tracks. You will need your own quad bike.

• Horseback Riding

Here’s your chance to practice those riding skills. Not always for the fainthearted! We also have a miniature horse for the little ones to experience the farm adventure.

• Mountain Climbing

Mountaineers will find the Nuveld Mountains challenging, with easy climbs for families. Many view points and rock formations are well worth the effort.

• Hiking Trails

Hiking for the family, easy one-or-two hour walks or full day hikes to experience the Karoo and it’s many fauna and flora that are largely unknown to many of us. Our informative brochure on the Bush Trail will assist you in learning more about the grazing values of the fauna and flora in the Karoo. The farm offers many opportunities to stroll around and enjoy the tranquil unique environment.

• Cycling / Mountain Biking

Very exiting routes for the family to demanding mountain routes for experienced cyclists. No need to bring your own bike as we have mountain bikes available for hire.

• Star Gazing

For the romantic adventurers ? not afraid of the dark ? a short hike will lead you to a romantic setting under the moonlit Karoo sky for an evening of amazing star gazing. Picnic baskets are available by prior arrangement.

• Swimming in ‘Plaasdam’

The perfect way for young and old to cool down after a long day in the car. The unique Karoo alternative to a city swimming pool.
